Glass bottles and jar being recycled in plastic box

Are you a student? We know the student lifestyle budget isn’t always the biggest! Have you thought about reducing waste to save some extra pennies? We have put together a few hints and tips that can be applied to student life.

Not only does recycling and reducing waste help the environment, it saves you money too. It is simple to do and can be done from the comfort your uni digs!

Lecture handouts

University lectures (the ones after 9am you make it to😉) often results in stacks of paper handouts that can pile up, why not make notes on the back of them rather than using an additional notebook?

Not only will this help to reduce the amount of paper wasted but it will result in less resources needing to be bought.

Glass Bottle Lamps

Rather than throwing away your glass bottles after pre-drinks, why not upcycle them into something low cost and effective to decorate your room?

Lamps made from glass bottles look effective and are so simple to make, from alcohol bottles to pasta jars – anything works!

Simply choose one of your favourite glass bottles once it is empty and place some battery powered fair lights in them. Voila, the perfect bedroom decoration, you can even use them in the living room for some funky party decorations.

Batch cooking

We know that university life can be busy and food can be the last thing on your minds which results in missed meals and a high volume of food waste.

By meal planning and batch cooking, not only will you save money, it will help to reduce the amount of food wasted. Batch cooking is a great way of using left over food and making plenty of meals to last you through the week.

Below is one of our favourite recipes!
