What is rehoming?
This simply means finding a new home for the things that we no longer want or need. This could be ANYTHING. From books, clothes, bags, cutlery, a TV, a sofa… whatever we don’t want anymore!
One person’s rubbish could be another’s treasure – so before you throw away something, consider if someone else can make use of it.
How to rehome:
Pass it on: Give it to a friend, family member or member of your community.
This is great for clothes that are no longer our style or don’t fit, school uniform our kids have outgrown, or objects like toys and books.
Many schools and community groups host school uniform exchanges and clothes swaps. Be sure to check with local community pages, schools, or start your own.Sell it: This way you can get a bit of extra money and save your item form the bin. A good place to start is online marketplaces, local selling groups or car boot sales.
Donate it: Take your unwanted items to a local charity shop. It’s a great way to rehome items and support causes you care about. You can find your nearest charity shop using the Charity Retail Association locator tool.
Small Action, Big Impact
Every time you rehome an item instead of binning it, you help to reduce the amount of waste we produce and protect our planet and resources.
