Water bottle
Bringing a reusable water bottle to work and refilling it is an easy way to reduce the amount of plastic. 7 billion plastic bottles are used every day in the UK- many of which are not recycled. If just 10% of people in the UK refilled once a week we could save around 340 million plastic bottles a year!
Reusable bottles have other benefits too- for example some are designed to keep your drinks cooler for longer and refilling saves you money too.
Coffee cups
Keep your caffeine fix eco-friendly by using a reusable coffee cup. These are available to buy online, in supermarkets and in most places that sell hot drinks- some will even give you a discount for reusing!
Most retailers will happily wash or rinse out your cup before refilling it too so you can use it throughout the day.
Notebooks
If taking notes is a big part of your job, you may go through a large amount of notebooks every year. Although they may not seem to contain plastic, many of the covers are made from plastic and have little use after they have been used.
Did you know that you can get reusable notebooks? These use an app on your phone to scan the pages and allow you to wipe the pages clean meaning that your notes will be more organised, available on your device and easier to find.
Bring your own lunch
The rise of the Meal Deal and convenience lunch has made it easier than ever to buy lunch at work. Unfortunately, this has caused a rise in plastic packaging too. Just your standard Meal Deal creates quite a lot of waste. Instead, why not opt to bring your own lunch to work in reusable containers? This way you can save money, use up any leftovers from dinner time and have a healthier lunch.
Boot covers
If your work requires you to wear boot covers regularly, why not invest in some reusable ones rather than the single use plastic ones which fall apart after one use.
Making small changes every day at work will lead to bigger changes which will benefit our environment, oceans and climate.
